An independent website
AI Image Label is an independent website. It is not an official website of the European Union, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by the European Commission or the EU AI Office. Official EU websites use the europa.eu domain. aiimagelabel.eu is run by SWNG and has no connection with the EU institutions: a .eu address is open to any company established in the European Union.
The icons for labelling AI-generated content (AI, AI GENERATED and AI MODIFIED) are published by the European Commission, which makes them freely available to everyone, without attribution, on its page EU icons for labelling AI-generated content. This site uses the official files unmodified, except for resizing: their proportions and their four official colours are kept. Using them here doesn't mean that the Commission approves this site, or the images you label with it.
The European flag appears on this site only to point to the EU's own texts and websites, beside the links to them, and as a decoration in one illustration on the home page and in the tool's corner picker. It is not part of this site's name, logo or branding, and it doesn't mean that the EU endorses this site. This site doesn't use the logo of any EU institution.
Using the tool
AI Image Label adds the icon you choose to your images, where you choose. Adding an icon doesn't by itself make content compliant with Article 50 of the AI Act, Regulation (EU) 2024/1689. You decide what to label, with which icon and where, and you remain responsible for what you publish: the consent of the people it shows, the rights to the image, and the rules of the platforms where you post it.
The tool makes a labelled copy and leaves your original files untouched: keep them. AI Image Label is free and provided as is. We do our best to keep the tool reliable and the guides accurate and up to date, but we can't guarantee that they are free of errors or always available.
Your images
AI Image Label works in your browser: your images are never sent to SWNG or to its host, and you keep every right to them. Read how in our privacy policy.
Intellectual property
The name AI Image Label, its logo, and the texts and design of this website belong to SWNG. They may not be reproduced without permission.
The EU icons for labelling AI-generated content are published by the European Commission, which makes them free for everyone to use, without attribution, including on the images you label here.
Fonts: Zalando Sans SemiExpanded and Funnel Sans, under the SIL Open Font License. The names of the platforms and AI tools mentioned in the guides belong to their owners, and are used only to describe how their services work.
The portrait in the home page's example is an AI-generated image by geralt, from Pixabay (Pixabay Content License). The other illustrations were made for this site.
